Introduced in 1932, the Leica II was the first of the M39 Leica cameras to have a built-in, coupled rangefinder. Several models of the Leica II were made over its production run, which overlapped with the Leica III series camera. Like other M39 Leicas, the Leica II has separate viewfinder and rangefinder windows. The viewfinder has a field of view appropriate for a 50mm lens. Other focal lengths required accessory viewfinders to be attached. Also, different from the later Leica III cameras, the Leica II does not have a slow shutter speed dial -the Leica II only features faster shutter speeds.
